Who is to be blamed...?

Actually, I wanted to write this when Leena Manimegalai's shawl issue. Now only posting my views... My take is, women dont really know what is women's freedom is... Wearing whatever they want certainly cannot be classified as "women's freedom". Yes... they have every rights to wear anything... But, just think abt the thoughts roll-in the minds of men, when women wear such tight T.shirts and such things... My comments below speaks abt that...

And, my reply to the blogpost...

I too strongly condemn the irresponsible speech of the Commissioner of Mumbai. And, the scum(as per ur words) should be punished. There is no doubt in it.

But, I wanna say one another thing, which most of the ladies/girls dont care.

Here in India, especially in Mumbai, Delhi areas, in the name of western culture, women started to wear westernised clothes. (BTW, I am not a male-chauvinist. I do respect women's feelings. But, dont give any justifications(or in the name of "women's freedom) for wearing such dresses.)

First understand onething... Unlike women, men's 'feelings' (Hope u get what feeling I meant) towards women increase suddenly after seeing them. Its human nature. So, once a man sees a gal with very little dress, his feelings will be aroused which will lead to certain type of molestation. By saying this, noway I justfy the crime done by those scum. But, what I wanted to say is women also should realize that they are also partly the reason for this type of crimes.

  1. The following is one another view point of my friend Srinivasan, I recieved thru email.

    hmm...I agree with Athi here......

The point here is that there are 'men' who are perverted enough to RAPE.....these sorta men(or even women) will commit rape - whatever be the state/status/sexiness/beauty of the woman. tthe person who raped this pregnant purdah-clad woman was such a sick minded pervert .

We are not talking about those type of MEN.

The type of men that we are talking about are NOT perverts...they are just normal men like u and me....who become molesters under temptation or provocation - they are not planned criminals...just oppportunistic criminals....the law itself treats these type of criminals more lienently than those who plan and commit crimes.

who knows?? maybe if these women hadn't provoked those men...this wouldn't have happened.......I'm NOT saying that is the reason....but it MAYBE one of the reasons....

    - This is an argument that women may not agree upon - but almost all men can understand - this is because men are different from women - both in terms of temptations and their reaction to these temptations....thats how GOD has created us, and we cannot change that...only try to keep it under control!! Once someone lets go of this control, such things happen.

The women gotta understand......the public in India is not all Software Engineers.....not all educated and cultured (in the western sense).
More than 70-80 % of India is still rural people with very very conservative mindsets.....and by people, i include women too. And this is true in cities too. According to them, in their experience - in the areas in which they've grown up and lived all their lives, such dresses are worn by women in the second oldest profession - or with low morality. When they see some girls wearing such dresses, what will they think?

I'm not saying what they're doing is right....just stating the facts.....

When u wear a sexy / provocative dress and walk into conservative areas, ur taking a risk........why take it? If u wanna wear a slinky dress, do it in more liberal and educated /cultured areas and occassions.....

have u heard of such incidents happening in Software Companies? In Infy Bangalore, I've seen girls wearing barely respectable dresses, but nobody molested them.....

So respected so-called-modern-women of India , don't make sweeping statements about men of India as a whole....also try to do some introspection about what ur doing too !!

  2. Here is one another reply I got in mail from my friend Rowdy aka yaathirigan

as Men's nature Athi & Mottai's points are true... but everything is not left to nature or our natural behaviour. We do have a layer above it which makes the difference from the Prehistoric to the Posthistoric ;-) .. and that layer is common sense..

It's the Parents, Family, Media (News Paper / TV / Movies / Books....etc) responsibility to keep up everyones thought in such a way that.. konjam kammiya dress pottutu oru ponnu vandha kooda.. avala sight adikirathoda (which can or cannot be stopped..i guess stopping is an ideal expectation ?) nipaatikitu.. avala molest pannanum, rape pannanum-nu thoni athai seiyaama self controled-ah irukuradhu..

Its the same Media who is making this as a big issue at same time, its these same Media who are also a responsible person for this.. asking how ? look at athi's signature.. " We are responsible for what we are and whatever we wish ourselves to be."

thats 200% true.. what you think is what you are.. your thoughts transforms you .. to any extreme. either high or low..

so along with advising women/girls on their dresses its time to make sure we do not create such an environment for them ..
